Women’s Resource Center Established December 1, 2003

In the fall of 2002 the local Birthright closed their doors  leaving Gillette and the surrounding area  without a life-affirming place for girls and young women facing  crisis pregnancies. A steering committee  was formed in December of 2002 to work towards opening a Care Net Pregnancy Care Center. A month later over 30 churches helped us to raise the needed “seed” money by participating in our first annual Baby Bottle Fundraiser during Sanctity of Human Life Sunday.

From that first Baby Bottle fundraiser key volunteers stepped forward to help with opening the Center. WRC is a volunteer driven interdenominational Christian ministry. We depend on many faithful volunteers who serve as patient advocates, nurses, parenting and healthy relationship specialists and more.  We do not receive any government grants and depend completely on the grace of God and the support of many individuals, churches and businesses.

On December 1, 2003, less than a year after the steering committee was formed, Women’s Resource Center opened our doors to help pregnant and scared girls, teenagers and women of northeast Wyoming. We rapidly outgrew our rented location and in May of 2006 our current location was purchased. Hundreds of hours of volunteer time went into the remodeling of our building. With the additional space we are able to serve more clients.

The Lord continued to pour His grace on the Center and rapidly moved us toward becoming a Medical Clinic that offers free limited obstetrical ultrasounds.  April 17, 2007 we became a Medical Clinic under the direction of Angela Biggs, MD.  Medical professionals were hired and trained to perform ultrasounds.  Our Registered Nurses provide pregnancy tests and limited obstetrical ultrasounds to confirm pregnancies.  Our trained volunteer Patient Advocates provide confidential and caring help and education to help our patients to make an informed choice.

In December of 2008 we joined an elite network of Pregnancy Care Clinics that helped us to focus more directly on serving more abortion vulnerable and abortion minded patients. Through the Optimization Tool  patient services platform we have had a dramatic increase in the number of abortion vulnerable patients who seek our help. Our goal is to provide the information needed to help every pregnant and scared young woman in northeastern Wyoming to make an informed choice for life.  Seeing her baby on the ultrasound screen may be the determining  factor in choosing life for many of our patients.  WRC does not refer for abortion or contraceptives.

In our first 4 years as an Optimized Clinic over 382 babies lives have been saved from abortion, and their mothers and fathers have been spared the grief and regret of an abortion decision.

We show the love of Christ to each precious patient that He sends us.  Even though a patient may not choose life she never feels judged. Abortion Recovery classes are also offered for those who regret their abortion decision.
